APC leaders upset as Pres. Buhari appoints more Northerners
There was outrage in the ruling All Progressives Congress party on
Thursday over the announcement of new appointments by President Buhari.
Leaders of the APC complained that the appointments were mostly in
favour of the North and Northerners.
“The President does not consult before making most of these appointments and I can tell you that Nigerians are going to term the party and the President as a northern party and the President of Northern Nigeria,” a leader of the party said on Tuesday.
He said, “Though the President did not get much votes from the South-East, we must not neglect the zone in key appointments.
“Even the South-West that supported and was the backbone of the party, what are we giving the zone in appreciation? We need to be careful before the party is destroyed.”
It was gathered that some leaders of the party are considering having a meeting where the appointments would be reviewed.
But another senior member of the APC said such a meeting, would have to
wait until the party holds its Kogi State governorship primary on
Saturday.
A member of the state executive of APC in a South-West state, said the appointments were lopsided against the South.
He said,
“When President Olusegun Obasanjo took over, you saw balance in appointments as he reflected federal character. President Goodluck Jonathan too reflected a semblance of balance. Buhari is pursuing a northern agenda. This is the same agenda pursued by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, when everything was pro-North. Buhari made six appointments at a go and five of them are northerners.”
The Speaker of one of the Houses of Assembly in the South-West, who
spoke on condition of anonymity, also described the new appointments as
shocking.
The Speaker, who is a member of the APC, said,
“This is shocking. It doesn’t speak well at all. The South-West has been completely neglected and the South-East too. The South-West was neglected during the President Goodluck Jonathan years. The South-West must rise up against this.”
Similarly, an APC chairman in another South-West state, who also spoke
on condition of anonymity, said the list of the new appointees left him
perplexed.
He said:
“This is not good at all. Why should he choose everybody from the North? I am sure he did not confide in anybody before drawing up the list and making the announcement. We will continue to watch. It is condemnable.”
In the same vein, an APC member of the House of Representatives, said
the leaders of the party in the South-West were shocked by Buhari’s
latest appointments.
“He didn’t tell anybody. We are all shocked. The real shocker would be when he is going to appoint ministers. The only thing that would save us is that he is mandated constitutionally to choose from all states, otherwise, he would have chosen all the ministers too from the North,” the female member of parliament said.

Bolt crushes Gatlin to claim Beijing double
Usain
Bolt blazed to yet another sprint double by destroying American rival
Justin Gatlin to retain his world 200 metres crown in Beijing on
Thursday, AFP reports.
The peerless Jamaican, who has now won
gold in his favourite event at the last four world championships,
clocked an electrifying time of 19.55 seconds with a jaw-dropping
display at the Bird’s Nest stadium, where he shot to fame at the 2008
Olympics.
His only scare came on his lap of honour
where he was bizarrely run over by a Chinese cameraman trying to film
while riding a two-wheeled Segway scooter.
But Bolt’s fireworks overshadowed a
strong evening for the United States after a ho-hum start to the
competition, with Allyson Felix storming to the women’s 400m gold and
Christian Taylor winning the men’s triple jump with the second longest
leap ever.
Once again, however, Bolt stole the
headlines on a balmy evening in the Chinese capital with a truly
staggering run, after drawing first blood in his rivalry with two-time
doping offender Gatlin by winning the 100m last weekend.
Kissing his vest and patting his chest
before the race, Bolt quickly blew past Gatlin coming into the bend,
surging clear to win in a season-leading time. Gatlin took silver in
19.74 and South African Anaso Jobodwana the bronze in a national record
19.87.
“There was no doubt,” said Bolt, winner
of an astonishing 11 of the last 12 individual world and Olympic sprint
titles since he lit up Beijing in 2008. “I told you guys I will do it.
When it comes to the 200 I am a different person.”
Felix and Taylor produced superb
performances to win the second and third gold medals for an American
team which had failed to fire over the first five days of the
championships. Kenya top the table so far with six gold medals, despite
two of their athletes failing doping tests.
Allegations of widespread doping plunged
athletics into crisis before the world championships but Bolt’s heroics
have once again papered over the cracks.
Felix, the most decorated female athlete
in track and field history based on her 200m and relay success,
justified her decision to step up to the 400m with a comprehensive win,
clocking a time of 49.26 seconds, the best in the world this year.
“It’s so different,” said Felix, who
went out at a blistering pace and looked unruffled throughout. “I wanted
to challenge myself this year and I’m happy I could be successful. I
had to take advantage of my speed and bring that to the 400m. I wanted
to control the race.”
Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas claimed
silver in a personal best of 49.67, with Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson
taking bronze in 49.99.
Olympic champion Christian Taylor nailed
a cracking jump of 18.21 with his very last attempt to take gold. Only
Britain’s world record-holder Jonathan Edwards has jumped further,
leaping 18.29 in 1995.
“It was a great fight and I saved it
until my last jump,” said Taylor. “We are that close to a record, this
makes you even hungrier! I’m looking forward to Rio.”
Cuba’s Pedro Pablo Pichardo took silver,
as he did in Moscow two years ago, with a best of 17.73 while
Portuguese former Olympic champion Nelson Evora took bronze with his
17.52.
In Thursday’s other final, the women’s
hammer final went to form with world record holder Anita Wlodarczyk
winning with a mighty heave of 80.85 metres.
Kim K reveals she may have a hysterectomy after her 2nd baby
And if one of the conditions - placenta accreta - returns it could mean she won't be able to have any more children.
She told C Magazine: 'They think I'll have placenta accreta again, so if the placenta grows a little bit deeper than it did last time, then they are prepared to have my uterus removed, which is a little scary for me.
She had a 'couple little operations' to address the issues caused by placenta accreta after the birth.
But Kim also noted how grateful she is that her second pregnancy has been easier than her first.

She told C Magazine: 'They think I'll have placenta accreta again, so if the placenta grows a little bit deeper than it did last time, then they are prepared to have my uterus removed, which is a little scary for me.
'I think we're just gonna go day by day, see how overwhelming it is, and see how the delivery goes.'
The condition occurs when parts of the placenta grow too deeply into the
uterine wall and it can cause severe blood loss after delivery. It can
result in an early C-section delivery followed by the surgical removal
of the uterus, which is called a hysterectomy.
She said the couple endured a 'long road' to get pregnant with their unborn son.
She had a 'couple little operations' to address the issues caused by placenta accreta after the birth.
She explained: 'That created a little hole in my uterus, which I think made it really tough to get pregnant again.'
Second time around, she says: 'I would go to the doctor in Beverly Hills
every day at five in the morning to get tested to see if I was
ovulating.'
The E! reality star says constantly checking if she was ovulating sucked
'the fun out of' her and Kanye's attempts to get pregnant.
'I’m like, "I’m ovulating, get home now!" He’d be like, "Wait, I’m in the studio,"' she recalls.
'I also feel lucky that, as of right now, I don’t feel like I’m gonna get preeclampsia again, which last time [contributed to] not only the weight, but also the swelling.'
In the interview she said reiterated that she had been 180 lbs when she delivered North.
The reality star was also candid about how she has become much more
relaxed about the idea of motherhood since having her first child.
'When I was pregnant with North, I thought, My life is so hectic - how
am I gonna take her to ballet classes and soccer?' Kim admitted.
'I had these visions of all the things I did growing up, and I was
really freaked out. And when it happens, you just instinctively know how
to do it.'

Ewww, You've got to be kidding me..Man finds cockroach living in his ear - then discovers it had 25 babies
A man who went to the doctors complaining of earache was horrified to discover he had a family of cockroaches living in his ear.
Not only was there a big mummy cockroach taking up residence in his ear canal, but she had spawned 25 little baby roaches.
The 19-year-old patient, known only as Mr Li, had gone to hospital after his ear became itchy and painful.
Doctors took a look inside his ear and were shocked to discover it was crawling with tiny insects.
They believe the female cockroach went inside Mr Li's ear several weeks before laying her eggs.
Doctors said that had Mr Li not come to hospital in time, his ear would have been "destroyed".
Yang Jing, a doctor from Chang'an Xiaobian Hospital in Dongguan, told TVS: "We saw an insect-shaped object blocking his ear canal completely."
Cockroaches, who are often pitched as the only creature that would survive a nuclear explosion, are hardy insects that can survive for months with no food.
